Four policemen were killed in an assault in south Kashmir’s Shopian region on Wednesday while two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen aggressors were killed in a gunfight in Anantnag.

Police said aggressors Wednesday evening assaulted a Police party in a region amongst Bongam and Arhama town on the edges of Shopian.

“They were at an engine workshop to get their vehicle repaired when aggressors opened shoot at them and all the four police faculty managed projectile injuries,” Police said.

He said the injured policemen were moved to District Hospital Shopian where they were proclaimed brought dead.

The killed policemen were distinguished as constable Ishfaq Ahmad Mir of Watergam Baramulla, constable Muhammad Iqbal Mir of Hardu Chanam, Baramulla, Javid Ahmad Bhat of Panzinara Srinagar and SPO Adil Manzoor Bhat of Zawoora Shopian.
