Various Republicans have said the vote on US President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court candidate, Brett Kavanaugh, ought to be delayed while claims of rape are legitimately heard.

It comes after Christine Blasey Ford blamed Mr Kavanaugh for assaulting her.

The charge, which Mr Kavanaugh has denied, rose days before the Senate Judiciary Committee votes on the post.

Prof Ford will affirm before the Senate board in front of its vote, her legal counselor has now said.

What’s more, White House guide Kellyanne Conway said Prof Ford ought “not be offended or disregarded” and ought to affirm under promise, in spite of the fact that that would be up to the board to choose.
