Japan’s Rikako Ikee, an award most loved for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has been determined to have leukemia.
The 18-year-old won a record six gold, in addition to two silvers, finally year’s Asian Games in Indonesia.
Ikee, who had left a preparation camp in Australia, declared the determination via web-based networking media and said she is “in a mess”.
“I will dedicate myself to my treatment and endeavor to most likely demonstrate a significantly more grounded Rikako Ikee,” she said.
Ikee has pulled back from the Japanese titles in April.
She is a previous world junior 50m free-form, 50m butterfly and 100m butterfly champion and was probably going to be a solid award most loved at July’s senior World Championships in South Korea.
