New Delhi : Lieutenant General MM Naravane has accepted charge as Vice Chief of the Indian Army.
Lt. Gen. Naravane could be the following Army Chief as he will be the senior most Army Commander after occupant General Bipin Rawat resigns on December 31.
Lt Gen Naravane succeeds Lt Gen D Anbu, who resigned on Saturday. General Naravane is from the seventh Battalion of Sikh Light Infantry Regiment and was going the Eastern Command.
Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, who was the Director General Military Operations (DGMO), assumed responsibility as the new Eastern Army Commander, while Lt Gen AS Kler assumed control over the Jaipur-based South-Western Command. He supplanted Lt Gen Cherish Matheson, who resigned on August 31.
