An outstanding Russian history specialist has admitted to killing his sweetheart, his attorney says, after he was found in a waterway with a knapsack containing a lady’s arms.
Oleg Sokolov, 63, was tanked and fell into the waterway as he attempted to discard body parts, Russian media said.
Police at that point found the executed group of Anastasia Yeshchenko, 24, at his home in the city of St Petersburg.
Prof Sokolov is a Napoleon master who has gotten France’s Légion d’Honneur.
“He has conceded his blame,” his legal advisor Alexander Pochuyev told AFP, including that he lamented what he had done and was currently collaborating.
Prof Sokolov supposedly told police that he murdered his darling during a contention and afterward sawed off her head, arms and legs.

He is said to have wanted to dispose of the body before freely ending his own life dressed as Napoleon.
Mr Pochuyev said Prof Sokolov – who has been accepting emergency clinic treatment for hypothermia – may have been under pressure.
