The BRITs commenced their 40th commemoration appear in a major manner the previous evening (Feb. 18) with Lewis Capaldi, Stormzy, and Mabel all leaving champs and Jack Whitehall giving his standard mind and appeal as host. Be that as it may, what minutes stood apart the most? Here are my ten most vital minutes from the BRITs 2020.
In spite of the fact that the current year’s BRIT grants was brimming with fun, it was, obviously, dominated by the shocking going of Caroline Flack, who ended her own life only a couple of days prior. Numerous visitors in participation paid tribute to Flack through their apparel and internet based life posts. In his opening discourse, have Jack Whitehall said Flack was an “individual from the BRITs family” and depicted her as a “kind and dynamic individual with an irresistible feeling of fun.”
The night additionally highlighted two or three significant political minutes. In his presentation of “Dark” (a track off his BRIT-grant winning collection Psychodrama), Dave rapped “the fact of the matter is our Prime Minister is a genuine supremacist” and paid tribute to the casualties of the London Bridge dread assault. Tyler, The Creator, then again, gave a S/O (of sorts) to Theresa May in his acknowledgment discourse for International Male Solo Artist. Referencing the way that May had recently halted him entering the nation, Tyler stated, “Thank you, Theresa May. I realize she’s at home p***ed off.”
In any case, in spite of having intense feelings, there were likewise bunches of carefree minutes that you may have missed, and here are my main ten.
- Mabel and her mum
Mabel opened the BRITs 2020 with her enormous hit “Don’t Call Me Up” before leaving with the honor for British Solo Female Artist. It’s her first BRIT grant and, as though that wasn’t motivation to praise enough, she was there with her mum Neneh Cherry who won International Solo Artist and International Breakthrough Act precisely thirty years sooner to the day.
- Lewis Capaldi’s S/O to ‘Love Island’
Lewis Capaldi was the enormous victor from the BRITs and it was little astonishment that he served some genuine snickers and seemed to have an extraordinary night. He began by winning Best New Artist and, in the wake of winning Song of the Year for his main hit “Somebody You Loved,” he accepted the open door to clear up what the implications of the verses are. Rather than the melody being about ex Paige Turley, who is as of now on Love Island, Capaldi stated, it’s about his grandmother who spent away two years back. He stated, “Because of my grandmother for… passing on?”

Bliss Crookes was selected for her first BRIT grant at the 2020 function in the Rising Star classification. She strolled honorary pathway in a Lehenga, a conventional South Asian dress, in yellow and gold. Talking about the explanation for her outfit, Crookes told the BBC, “Little youngsters can see somebody who resembles their mum, their aunt, their gran on honorary pathway at the BRITs.” She was outstanding amongst other dressed on the night and posted a picture of herself on the red carpet on Twitter with the caption, “Represent – Brits 2020.”
- Lewis Capaldi and Stormzy’s impromptu duet
The BRITs is all about celebrating excellence in the British music industry. So, what happens when two of the biggest artists meet backstage? A surprise duet, of course. Stormzy saw Capaldi backstage and went over to express how much he loved “Someone Your Loved” before launching into the chorus. Capaldi helped him reach the high notes and the best duet was born.
- Bring Me The Horizon dressed as the Spice Girls
As far as music royalty goes, it doesn’t come much bigger than the Spice Girls. The fivesome may not all have been present but Sheffield-based rock band Bring Me The Horizon sought to recreate their iconic 1997 BRITs look. They were nominated in the Best Group category and came dressed as the girl power gang to represent the OG girl group.
- Lizzo & Harry Styles – that’s it, that’s the whole entry
While the BRITs 2020 looked incredibly fun, Harry Styles and Lizzo won the award for doing the most. The PDA was strong between the pair and Jack Whitehall even admitted being a little bit jealous of the two of them. Elsewhere, Lizzo downed a glass of Styles’ tequila before he jumped up and punched the air. Friendship goals.
- Harry Styles & his sister
As previously mentioned, Harry Styles enjoyed a lot of time chatting with host Jack Whitehall during the BRITs. Sat on his table, Whitehall joked “I don’t want to pry, but have you brought someone with you tonight? Is one of these ladies your date?” But Whitehall that was left red faced when Styles revealed it was his older sister that had come as his date.
- Billie Eilish had a Spice Girls moment
Although all the Spice Girls weren’t at the BRITs, Mel C did take to the stage to award Billie Eilish with the award for International Female Solo Artist. While she may be one of the hottest stars out right now, Eilish was all of us when she had a serious fangirl moment with Sporty Spice before they hugged.
- Ronnie Wood taking the tube
While it’s definitely not out of the ordinary for people to take public transport, there’s still something surprising about seeing celebrities do it. Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood shocked tube passengers as he joined them on his trip to the awards ceremony. He posted a video of himself on Twitter and wrote “knees up on the tube” proving it doesn’t matter whether you’re rock and roll royalty or not, you can always slum it with the rest of us.

I’m not sure if I missed the memo but there were so many pairs of gloves on the red carpet at the BRITs 2020. From Anne Marie who completed her princess-inspired look with some satin gloves to Celeste who wore black they were everywhere. The pair that seemed to cause the biggest stir were Rolling Stones frontman Ronnie Wood. While some questioned whether they were washing up gloves and others said they looked like gardening gloves they stole the show.
