Bowler Mitchell Starc has been offered authorization to leave Australia’s voyage through South Africa to watch his significant other Alyssa Healy play in the T20 World Cup last.
The 30-year-old paceman will miss Saturday’s third and last one-day global in Potchefstroom.
“It’s a once in a blue moon chance for Mitch to watch Alyssa in a home World Cup last,” Australia mentor Justin Langer said.
Healy’s side face India in Melbourne on Sunday, with 90,000 fans anticipated.
Langer included: “It is something we have been discussing for some time and, given Mitch has had an extensive remaining burden in every one of the three configurations this late spring, he’s going home a few days in front of the remainder of the crew.
“We have a lot of quick bowling alternatives with us here in South Africa with Josh Hazlewood, Jhye Richardson and Kane Richardson all passing on our past match in Bloemfontein. Mitch’s nonattendance will offer one of them a chance to intrigue in Saturday’s match.”
