The world was stunned back in January when it was reported that Sandi Toksvig was hanging up her cover and leaving The Great British Bake Off tent for good. Yet, it appears Channel 4 have discovered a substitution for the humorist as it was reported today (March 11) that Matt lucas will join Noel Fielding as the new host of The Great British Bake Off.
The entertainer and on-screen character, who is most popular for his work on TV and radio with long-lasting partner David Walliams, will supplant Toksvig as the new co-moderator of Channel 4’s enormously famous heating appear. Toksvig has introduced the show since its move from BBC three years back, yet said she was moving to one side from her association with Fielding to concentrate on different tasks.
Talking about the energizing news, Lucas disclosed to Channel 4: “I’m chuffed to bits to join the most flavorful show on TV. I can hardly wait to fellowship with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the splendid cooks.”
He proceeded: “And remembering my adoration for cake, I’ve just arranged some a lot bigger pants in expectation. See you in the tent!”
Over on Twitter, the comic proceeded with the festivals by sharing a return image of himself as weight reduction bunch pioneer Marjory in Little Britain. Conveying a plate of cakes and buns, Matt subtitled the snap: “Mind-set,” which we can identify with.
With recording for the eleventh (that’s right, eleventh!) period of Bake Off starting this spring, we’ve been excitedly anticipating updates on Sandi’s substitution and gratitude to a video Channel 4 shared of Lucas and Fielding’s screen test, it appears as though the last may have discovered his match, with the Mighty Boosh star laughing uncontrollably snickering at Lucas’ jokes.
